Acrylic is a useful, clear plastic that resembles glass, but has properties that make it better glass in many ways. Acrylic is used to make various products, such as shower doors, bath enclosures, windows and skylights. It is much stronger than glass, making it more impact resistant and safer. For instance, falling against an acrylic shower door will not likely break it. Acrylic also insulates better than glass, and so, saving on heating bills.Acrylic is lighter than glass, and so, makes working using acrylic easier. A unique property of plastic is that it can be shaped, example, bow-front aquariums. Unlike glass, scratches can be easily buffed out of acrylic. However, there are two disadvantages of acrylic. It is more expensive than glass, and if exposed to a direct flame ,it will melt and eventually burn.

Graduated tone can be used to create the illusion of space and form in a drawing.
Use a B, 2B, or darker grade of pencil for your shading. Lighter grades (H, 2H etc.) will not give enough depth to your darkest tones.
Start by shading the area you wish to be dark and slowly build up the tone.
As you work towards the light, slowly ease the pressure on your pencil till you can no longer see it.
Repeat this process patiently, building a depth to the shading. Try to keep the tonal change as smooth as possible till you get the intensity of tone you wanted.

About sketching:
Sketching is not about drawing something you see accurately. Sketching is about relaxing, drawing out what you feel to let out your feelings. There is no right or wrong when it comes to sketching.
The whole point of sketching can be done in two different ways, one way is sketching as a preliminary to a painting or a finished drawing, the other way is for the art and fun of sketching. But for sketching in the art and fun way, the piece of art can be marvellous if done properly.
Sketching is drawing freehand, without worrying about the appearance of your sketch. Sketching also includes scribbling and making marks at the necessary spots to make your sketch nicer. Shading is also needed, to make the sketch look 3D.
